Turkish musician and filmmaker Ece Era announces the deluxe edition of her 2024 album Bedside Tunes, titled ‘Bedside Tunes (Lights On)’. The expanded release includes four reimagined tracks produced by Ece herself and is out August 22nd. The first single, “I’m Here,” is out today!
This deluxe edition was born out of an unexpected return to Turkey after unforeseen visa complications forced her to leave Belgium.
On her vibrant/mournful electronic debut, Bedside Tunes, Ece Era challenges cultural ideologies, identity structures, and her difficult past with tracks crafted during introspective moments before sleep or upon waking.
“I left behind five years, moved back in with my parents, and made music with no money, no friends, and stray animals as my companions. They became symbols of survival and softness — like me, a woman making non-commercial music in Turkey. I’m proud of these four new songs. Party-ready, but also for quiet nights at home. I can’t wait to share them with you <3”
Her fourth studio album 'Myrtus Myth' is a collaboration with producer and visual artist Flaty, where she draws on mythologies both public and personal to craft an expansive experimental pop album and Dante-esque journey through the self. Together, Kedr and Flaty transcend dance structure completely, incorporating live instruments and new vocal techniques to bridge influences from vaporwave to Kate Bush to Phil Collins.
Though stylistically diverse, Myrtus Myth comes together through the narrative structure of Livanskiy’s storytelling. Written in her native Russian, her lyricism is at its most immersive on this album, a hero’s journey recounted over 11 tracks. It can be hard to orient oneself within Myrtus Myth, where sounds flicker from distant rooms and history seems to collapse into itself. But it’s precisely this feeling of disorientation that allows Livanskiy to realize her project.
Of the new album, Kedr says:
"Working on an album is an exploration of yourself. Making a decision to write an album is like an invitation to wake up; an invitation to get to know yourself, to find out who you are and what truly excites you - through sound. This is a discipline of the spirit, cleansing the channels through which inspiration enters the blood.
The last couple of years have been incredibly difficult for many people on earth, and for me in particular, a lot has changed. This album is a reflection on painful topics through the prism of the mythical, dreamlike and otherworldly. But this work itself, for me as a person, is an escape from reality into the world of the nooks and crannies of the subconscious, dreams, the transcendental and fantastic.
The music in this album is inspired not only by life itself and musical references, but in many ways by literature and literary images, myths, and poetic symbols. All together it forms an Odyssey - the hero's journey. The album is imbued with the idea of a deep kinship of the soul with the universe, the awareness of all-unity, the search for a place for a person in the cosmic and personal. Love as salvation."

Turkish musician and filmmaker Ece Era shares new single ‘Let Go’ today! Listen: eceera.ffm.to/letgo.oyd
From Istanbul to NYC to Belgium, Era has persistently been on a mission to explore her creative and philosophical interests. Her music is rooted in a notion of sincerity; it’s deeply personal and representative of one small step on her journey to liberating herself from the identity that was formalized in her youth.
On ‘Let Go,’ Era alters her voice, shrouding her vocals in warm layers of electronica, drifting between melancholy and optimism.
“Your design / Your touch / Will be lasting til I die" she sings, her vocal gliding across a velvety bed of synths before being funneled into the sonic equivalent of a rushing river. “I fell in love with / I fell in love with” she exclaims over a pulsating track that opens like a kaleidoscope before coming to a close.
