This week on Midnight Local I continue to drag us down into sleaze town with 1984's Blind Date- a film that can only be described as insane *and* full of boobs.
This week on Midnight Local James Earl Jones stars in a psychosexual deep sea thriller! The movie is 1982's 'Blood Tide'. The monster leaves a lot to be desired but James Earl Jones' performance more than makes up for it, it also has one of the weirdest moments I have ever seen.
We're diving deep down into exploitation flicks on Night Flight Plus and watching 1984's "Angel" this week on Midnight Local. This movie can't decide if it's a slasher, or a made for tv after school special, so it tries to be both!
In case you missed it, Meredith and I have kicked off the third "season" of Midnight Local with a horror movie I stumbled into pretty randomly and instantly fell in love with. This movie is fantastic!
Today on Midnight Local we are finally talking about a John Waters film with his 1994 movie 'Serial Mom'. This comedy/horror makes me laugh so hard and the performances are wonderful. It definitely holds up and is worth checking out.
Today on Midnight Local we're talking about one of my favorite horror movies of all time: Island of Lost Souls. Probably the most chilling villain in all of the early horror films AND it ticks a whole litany of Pre-Code boxes.
I don't know how much Psycho is studied by film students anymore, but there certainly was a time when it was near the top of the list. I hadn't seen it in years before rewatching it for the podcast, and it mostly held up. That third act though... is that supposed to be serious?
Meredith and I are still going deep into film history with a look at the Pre-Code horror classic "Freaks" from 1932. Even for the wild, uncensored, free-wheeling days of the Pre-Code era Freaks was too much for audiences and studio execs alike, and was cut nearly in half before release. We didn't realize it while recording it, but Freaks probably lays the ground work for the entire genre of "body horror", and if you haven't seen it, you should. Tod Browning's (director of Dracula) Freaks from 1932- today on Midnight Local!
