I just finished one of the two sleeves of our sweater project as I need to be a few steps ahead of you guys if I want to make a good video tutorial for that step. Next episode (this weekend) will be the collar. The following episode (next week) will be the sleeves. Very soon you’ll all have your beautiful crochet men’s sweater. ❤️

Hello my crochet friends! Tomorrow, Sunday, April 28, I will publish Episode 3 of "Your First Sweater" series. I will cover the yoke, which is the top section of the sweater. It's also the most complicated section! I expect to have the episode published sometimes around 12 noon, New York City time. The wait is almost over! ❤️

And so it begins... the first fake channel impersonating me: @crochetbyfabio...yt...2 I found out about it while reading all of your wonderful comments. I noticed this strange guy responding as if it was me! Very upsetting... 😕

Just now, sitting next to me on the subway train was this young woman stitching a crochet piece. It was so pretty looking, I needed to know what stitches she was using. I also didn’t want to bother her and interrupt her with her happy pursuit, so I ended up staring at her hands for an uncomfortably long time. I could tell she noticed my creepy stare, but I persisted. 5 SC and 1 DC. That’s what she was doing and next thing, my mind took flight with new sweater ideas! Random events like these tell me my Channel is meant to be! Now, if only she had noticed the red sweater I was wearing, she would have realized the creepy guy staring at her hands was a fellow-crocheter.

Hello my crochet friends! ❤️. I'm so glad you all like my supplemental video, or Episode 2.5. From your comments, I was particularly happy to read that some of you even lost their fear of the Foundation HDC or were finally able to successfully make it for the first time!!! This makes me so happy you have NOOOOOOOOOO IDEAAAAAA!!! 🥰🥰🥰.

Onto your questions and comments:

‪@Natalia-qi2zb‬ thank you for asking me to talk about the books and tutorials that helped me improve my crochet skills. It's important to give credit where credit is due.

The tutorials by Mikey (‪@TheCrochetCrowd‬ ) on ‪@Yarnspirations‬ were how I started. Oh, how I wish I could speak as beautifully as he does on his tutorials! That throw in the pic is from ‪@Yarnspirations‬ and Mikey's tutorial helped me tremendously with following the pattern to create that type of stitch.

‪@BAGODAYCROCHET‬ got me to attempt my first sweater. The sweater in the photo is the one she made a tutorial for on YouTube years ago and the sweater that started them all!!!

‪@byDsign‬ mentions this book: Top-Down Crochet Sweaters by Dora Ohrenstein. That book was an essential book in my learning. I have read and re-read so many times the first half of this book, where the author talks about the theory behind top-down sweater construction. Obviously, the patterns in the book, beautiful as they are, are all for women so I had to expand on her theory and bring in ideas of my own. But that book is definitely one of my crochet bibles!

During the Covid years, I was a paid subscriber to the site Craftsty (they have a YouTube channel apparently which is ‪@CraftsyYouTube‬ ) and that's when I came across the amazing Shannon Leigh Roudhán (‪@CandTPublishing‬ ) where I learned the HDF in the Front Loop stitch. I bought those tutorials so they are with me forever. I continue to occasionally go back to their tutorials because they are gems!

So, these are the four pillars upon which I have built my crochet house. I owe them immensely!

Hello my crochet friends! ❤️ Thank you for your comments, questions, and suggestions! I read every single one of them! And let me tell you, the love, the support and the cheering you shower me with make me feel so good! What a blessing you all are! 🙏

Onto your questions and suggestions, now!

‪@jw8269‬ and ‪@tyronewhite5979‬, no I don't have an IG account. In fact, I'm only on Facebook and YouTube and nowhere else.

‪@maryjones7679‬, ‪@elizabethchurch3224‬, and ‪@TCMedicare101‬, I'm not sure if my sweaters can be unisex. My understanding is that women's sweaters contour to the shaping of the female body. As such, they require a lot of shaping-related extra work, that men's sweaters--thank God!--don't need. For us guys, the body of a sweater and the sleeves are just straight tubes and that's it. I think my sweaters would do well as the typical "boyfriend's sweater" (which is an oversize and very cozy style of sweater for women).

‪@terry_679‬, Am I a designer? Well, the answer is both no and yes. I'm not a professional designer and never have I studied design. But I am Italian and design is encoded in our DNA... so... there... 😝

‪@bettydeen-armbruster157‬ , ‪@stitchaspell‬ , ‪@willworkforyarn4893‬ (and many others)... I agree with you, the stitching videos need some improving. I am currently working at a supplemental video where I go over the Foundation HDC, the HDC-FLO and the Extended HDC-FLO stitches with the camera closer to my hands, with a better looking yarn, showing where the stitch-mark goes on the first Foundation HDC stitch, and which loop is the correct, front loop.

‪@arachne4757‬ , can the back loop be used? Yes indeed it can. Working in the HDC in the back loop will produce a ribbed type of fabric that's also very plush. Not ideal for a classic men's sweater, but I can easily see it making a more edgy, extravagant, fashion-forward type of fabric. I have used the HDC in the back loop to make what I call a super scarf (a truly humongous scarf that says, New York City here I come!). Here's a pic!

What just happened??? 2.37K subscribers in 3 days??? Who did this??? Was it you ‪@JuanTheYarnAddict‬? Or was it you ‪@mamaggear‬? Or was it you ‪@Crochetedbymichi‬? Or was it you ‪@CinnamonStitches‬? Or was it you ‪@jeannieakaproverbs31yarn‬? LOL 😝

Seriously, thank you for mentioning my channel to your many fans! What an amazing family we are, us, the fiber artists!!! ❤️❤️❤️
