🛑 A lot of people keep saying “illegal immigrants don’t get any government assistance.”
That’s technically true — but here’s the loophole 👇
Millions have been brought into the U.S. under special categories like “refugee,” “asylee,” or “lawfully present” status.
Once labeled that way, they become eligible for major public benefits — including food stamps (SNAP), cash aid, and Medicaid — all funded by U.S. taxpayers.

Asylees (Administration for Children & Families):
“As an asylee, you may be eligible for certain federal and state benefits such as cash assistance, health insurance, and food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).”

Refugees (ACF):
“You may be eligible for federal ‘mainstream’ benefits such as TANF, Medicaid, and food assistance through SNAP.”

💵 So while many Americans can barely afford groceries, billions in assistance are going to people brought in under these programs — all made possible through this “lawfully present” loophole.
