Age 7: Had long, beautiful, natural hair.
Age 11: Hair came out in clumps due to taking swimming lessons every day.
Age 13: Perming my hair and I wore braids and braid extensions because my hair was so damaged.
Age 15: Mom took me to the hairdresser twice a month to make me feel good about my hair, which kept growing and then falling out randomly. This would continue all through high school. Constant perming of my hair.
Age 22: Found the Dominican shops in New York, who did blow outs and perms.
Age 23: Hair would never grow past a certain length; it would just grow some and fall out randomly.
Age 23: Went to Howard University and learned about โgoing naturalโ because the environment supported natural hair.
Age 24: Big fro with blonde highlights. Didnโt know hair could grow so much.
Age 25: Picture on the left: Short twists, marking the beginning of my loc phase.
Age 27: Officially locโd my hair.
Age 37: Started doing my own locks due to the pandemic.
Age 38: Doing my own hair, made my locs grow tremendously.
Age 39: Found this โup doโ that I am now known for.
Age 41: Picture on the right - Here we are.
Whewwww, itโs been more than just a hair journeyโitโs been about resilience, learning, and finding myself along the way.
From breakage and perms to embracing my natural hair, each phase taught me something new.
If youโre out there trying to figure it out, remember every stage is part of becoming who youโre meant to be.

Dave Ramsey convinced me to get debt free and once I was it changed everything.
Being debt free also helped me as an entrepreneur in building my business.

If you're new here, I'm a writer that doesn't have an agent and despite that:
One of my books was a clue on Jeopardy.
I'm the first Black woman to win an Eisner award at San Diego Comic-Con (The Oscars of Comics).
My fiction book was featured in Good Morning America digital.
My books have been featured in every place from the L.A. Times to the Washington Post.
I'm set to make $400,000 this year as a creative entrepreneur, leveraging my author brand.
Don't wait to be picked. Pick yourself
