We’re Adam and Vicki Forbes, a New Zealand couple sailing the South Pacific aboard our yacht Te Tāiko and exploring Aotearoa by motorhome. Ours is a life shaped by curiosity, connection, and a desire to live simply while still holding onto the professional work we love. Between remote anchorages and winding backroads, we share honest stories of what it’s really like to live, travel, and work from the road and sea. We’re not chasing perfect—we’re chasing real moments, unexpected encounters, and a slower way of being.

New Episode: Our Ocean Crossing to Australia!
We’ve just uploaded our passage from New Caledonia to Australia, a crossing across the Coral Sea that begins with rough conditions and ends in some of the most beautiful sailing we’ve had.
If you love travel, adventure, sailing, and discovering new places, this episode is for you. We share what it’s really like to navigate the Lord Howe seamount chain, handle shifting sea states, sail through changing weather, and finally make landfall in Australia after four years of dreaming about this moment.

Let us know what you think of the passage — and wait till you see our welcome to Bundaberg…
Huge thanks to our Patreons for supporting this journey! 💙

An Emotional Entry to Australia
Today feels like it has been a long time coming.
Arriving in Australia is more than just another step—it’s the realisation of a much bigger plan. A plan that began when we let go of most of our possessions, gave up the comfort of a very comfortable home, and chose instead to take on challenges we weren’t even sure we were capable of.
We’ve been through a few yachts along the way, and then came the process of outfitting Te Taiko for her big ocean-sailing phase of life. Setting off on two years of adventure across the South Pacific has given us experiences we never could have imagined. Just when we think this journey can’t possibly get more amazing—it does.
This season in northern Vanuatu has been especially meaningful. We shared anchorages and moments with people who became true friends. We met some of the most down-to-earth people, living simply and generously, who welcomed us into their lives for a brief time before we moved on. Those encounters will stay with us forever.
And now, back to the bigger plan: Australia was always our first major pause, our first big objective. What makes today so overwhelming and humbling is that—we did it. After all the planning, all the effort, and all the unknowns, here we are.
Looking back on these past years—what we’ve seen, who we’ve met, and how far we’ve come—it’s incredible to think how this dream has unfolded. Hopefully along the way we’ve managed to give back, to share something of value with others, just as so many have given to us.
We’re excited to see what new adventures lie just around the corner.
Thanks for following our journey this far.
Cheers,
Adam and Vicki

Happy holidays from Te Tāiko! We couldn’t resist sharing last evening’s sky courtesy of New Caledonia. A westerly change currently bringing some convergence and also a bit of relief from yesterday’s high humidity 😅 We have a tropical low coming through, all good though not currently affected. Wherever you are, we hope you’re all having a good one 😁
Cheers Adam and Vicki
