This one was made at the start of the pandemic, when I was at the lowest point in my life. I was riddled with anxiety, suffering from Hashimoto’s, and on the edge of a breakdown. Making this video was a crucial tool to keep my head above water, and it remains my most hard won and treasured piece of work.
I’m happy to say I’ve made a complete recovery since then, never to return.
AC2 rules too.

This one dives into the lore of the infected in The Last of Us. The Days Gone lore video had done really well so I thought I’d try the same approach here. It never took off in the same way, but I think it might still be my favourite.
A lot of the comments said it felt like a nature documentary, and I took that to heart. That feedback shaped how I approached storytelling from then on, adding more of that documentary vibe into future videos.
Take a look if you missed it.

This was made during the most magical time for the channel. I was swept up in the hype of the release for The Last of Us Part II and creating the story of Part I, then later covering Part II, was a profound experience.
It lit up the community with so much passion, and through these videos and playthroughs I was able to share in that atmosphere with you.
The release of The Last of Us show brought another wave of viewers and reminded me how much this world still resonates.
I hope we see a Part III one day.

The video that launched a dynasty. And I still haven’t finished the series. I’ve made nine to date with another (Unity) on the way. I promise I’ll get through them all.
Let’s just get GTA 6 out of the way first.

Anyone actually play Shenmue 3?
I didn’t.
By the time it came out I was already a bit Shenmued out after making this video. Covering both games took around 200 hours and in the first year it scraped about 3000 views. Had to laugh at that.
The reviews at the time put me off, but I’ve heard talk of a remaster which might be my way back in. If you played it, What did you think?
I’ve always been a bit sad this video never landed. I still think it was miles better than the one the studio put together. hey ho!
Shenmue 1 though will always be my most nostalgia inducing game. That first act lives in my soul.

Happy GTA 6 year!
This one’s a compilation of the phone missions in GTA 3. I loved all the small quirky characters in this set of stories. They looked like they had so much fun making them, and I can see why Rockstar carried that same spirit into the stranger and freaks missions in the later games.
Who’s your favourite? Mine has to be Marty Chonks.
I later repackaged this into more of a bedtime lore video, since so many of you have said my voice helps you drift off to sleep. Apparently that’s a compliment. A few comments did point out that police sirens and gunfights maybe weren’t the best choice for a video meant to fall asleep to.

DIRECTOR’S NOTES – The Story of GTA IV
So the dust has settled on the video’s release and I thought I’d give you a bit of behind the curtain stuff to chew on.
This was an expensive video to make. Not because the game costs much but because I only had a PS5 so I had to buy an Xbox Series X and the old 360 copy just to record it. Crazy that Rockstar still haven’t remastered this for modern systems though the rumours keep swirling. The capture quality wasn’t quite what I wanted which is a shame.
This is also the only game I’ve covered so far where I went in mostly blind. I hadn’t played it since 2008 so I’d forgotten a lot. What really struck me this time was the vibe of Liberty City. Gritty, grey, properly down to earth compared to the entries before it.
The story itself is more straightforward than most but also maybe the most powerful. Niko’s guilt and betrayal sits quieter than Trevor’s in GTA V. It’s more subtle. A subtle weight rather than a raging fire. His drive to protect Roman is a more prominent motivations and I’d say his backstory is the most compelling of any GTA protagonist so far.
That said Rockstar’s way of handling his betrayers was a bit clumsy. Antagonists come and go which made it tricky to capture cleanly. Personally I prefer a story where the main villain is front and centre all the way through. GTA IV doesn’t quite give you that.
The romance with Kate was my proudest bit to script and cut. The way it builds to Niko’s commitment and then the aftermath is one of the most powerful moments in the whole game. I was determined to do it justice in the video and I think I did.
Next up I’ll be heading into the DLCs with Gay Tony being my personal favourite. Honestly one of Rockstar’s best stories. I’ve got 9 more GTA IV stories planned and I’d also like to cover the random characters because some of those are brilliant little slices of Liberty life.
Would love to hear what stood out to you in the video. Comment below and I’ll get back to as many as I can.
