BHANGRA ESSENTIAL E.P. 💥
I’ve followed Himmat’s journey since he first appeared on Voice of Punjab singing competition around 5 years ago and for me, his resemblance to the late, great Surjit Bindrakhia in terms of vocal tone and pitch was uncanny.
We connected a little while ago over Instagram but finally got the opportunity to meet last year in October. After a brief meeting, we knew that this wasn’t going to be a single track project. Both of us are into the same styles of music and love experimenting with different sounds, so the whole process just happened so naturally. @jangdhillon was sending fire through Whatsapp and we were lacing down the vocals and beats.
The EP was completed in around 3/4 weeks. And with Himmat being the top calibre vocalist that he is, some of these vocals were recorded in one take. He is easily the best Punjabi Folk vocalist in this new era of singers that I have seen. His vocal capability and skill is definitely one element that will stand out on ‘BHANGRA ESSENTIAL’.
I hope you all enjoy the sound & vibe of the EP and show just as much love as you did with ‘Nachlai Goriye’.
