Father Released After Fatal Domestic Shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade, Investigation Ongoing.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Homicide Bureau is investigating a domestic-related shooting in southwest Miami-Dade that left one man dead.

According to investigators, deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Palmetto Bay District responded at approximately 4:49 p.m. Wednesday to the area of Southwest 168th Street and Southwest 92nd Avenue following reports of a dispute involving a shooting.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they detained one individual at the scene. During a security sweep of the home, deputies located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Investigators later determined the shooting stemmed from a dispute between a father and son, resulting in the son’s death.

Authorities identified the deceased as 47-year-old David Dylan McPeck. The father, 75-year-old David Ronald McPeck, was initially detained but has since been released. At this time, no formal charges have been filed.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau.

A 46‑year‑old Miami‑Dade man has been arrested on allegations he sexually abused his daughter for years, according to police.

A Miami‑Dade father, identified as Joan Cornelio, was taken into custody this week after investigators say his teenage daughter disclosed a pattern of sexual abuse that spanned several years. Detectives with the Miami‑Dade Police Department’s Special Victims Bureau said the girl first reported the abuse at age 14, later confirming details again at 15. Her mother also verified her identity during the investigation.

According to the arrest report, the teen told investigators the abuse happened multiple times and that she had told Cornelio to stop. When questioned by detectives, Cornelio denied the allegations but admitted he would play a “game” with the victim before invoking his right to an attorney.

Police say Cornelio voluntarily went to the Special Victims Bureau’s Sexual Crimes Investigations Unit on Monday evening, where he was arrested around 7:30 p.m. He was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and is currently being held pending a bond hearing.
