Exactly 16 years from today, January 15’th, a plane had a bird strike that caused both engines to stop working, causing the plane to have to land in a river called the Hudson in New York. That plane was an airbus A320 on its way to charlotte from LaGuardia international in New York. US airways flight 1549 successfully landed in the Hudson without any fatalities, but with many hospitalizations. Even though it was so long ago, we give thanks to captain sully sullenberger and copilot Jeffrey skiles for their excellent courage in dealing with such an incident.
