The latest episode of History Traveler dropped today. We’re visiting the grave of Ronald Reagan at the Ronald Reagan Library & Museum, which you may find interesting. How would you grade the presidency of Reagan?

New episode of History Traveler drops this morning. We’re in California at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum to continue our quest to visit every presidential grave site. Got a feeling that everyone with advanced political brainrot is going to be lighting up the comment section on this one. 🫣

2. Abraham Lincoln
3. JFK
4. Andrew Jackson
5. James K. Polk
6. FDR
7. Benjamin Harrison
8. John Tyler
9. James Monroe
10. James Buchanan
11. Zachary Taylor
12. William Howard Taft
13. Harry S Truman
Just crossed #14 off the list a few days ago.

On this day in 1935, Louisiana Senator Huey P. Long was shot at the Louisiana state capitol by Carl Weiss, who was the son in law of a political rival. Long’s bodyguards returned fire and killed Weiss. An autopsy revealed that Weiss was hit 60 times.
You can hear more about Long on a recent episode of the podcast Home Brew History.

Had a great weekend in California celebrating Jack Moran’s 100th birthday. Also celebrating with us was Helen Patton, who is the granddaughter of General George Patton. Jack was in the 87th Infantry Division which was attached to the 3rd Army under Patton.
While at the Reagan Presidential Library, I had a bit of a surprise when Helen presented me with a replica of her grandfather’s dog tags. She said that these are typically reserved for WWII veterans but that she was making an exception in my case because of her admiration of the channel (which was humbling). Helen is doing great work carrying on the legacy of her grandfather and keeping the history alive at La Fiere Manor in Normandy (which she now owns and operates).

Layover in Denver. Throwing down on a great American breakfast while watching the latest episode of History With Waffles on my phone (which features a really good interview with Tim Smith of the ACHS).

What a sad, broken world it is that we live in. I’m not anti-waffle, but don’t try to elevate it above a pancake.
