The Patient Story

"I was shocked, for sure. I was really surprised, I was terrified. I think that like that phone call where she said you have cancer was the most scared I've been throughout the entire experience because not only was I hearing you have cancer when I just turned 31, but also they didn't even know what it was. So I mean, I was just like distraught."

"I remember we sat them down and, you know, we just said, you know, mommy's sickness is back and mommy has to get more medicine, probably, maybe some surgeries. And, you know we're going to get the cancer out of her body again. But mommy's going to be tired. Mommy's going to be sick. And I remember my four year old. She was really sad about that. She was really sad because… I just remember last year when I was on chemo, they weren't allowed. I was I brought home like a a pump for two days every round of chemo and like, I wasn't allowed to, like, hold them or they couldn't be on me." - Kalei, stage 4 colorectal cancer.
