Artist of the week - Bruce Ruffin!

Often overlooked as just a pop-leaning reggae artist, Ruffin’s career tells a different story. As a singer-songwriter, he delivered some of the strongest recordings of the rock steady and early reggae era - both solo and as a member of The Techniques and The Shades.

Best known outside Jamaica for his major mainstream hits, ‘Rain’ and ‘Mad About You’.

We at Trojan Records are deeply saddened by the passing of Lowell “Sly” Dunbar, one half of the legendary Sly & Robbie and one of the most influential drummers in reggae history.

From his early work with the Revolutionaries and Aggrovators to his time backing Peter Tosh in Word, Sound and Power, Sly’s rhythms helped shape modern Jamaican music. As part of the “Riddim Twins”, Sly & Robbie formed Taxi Records, producing and performing on countless international hits and collaborating with artists including Grace Jones, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Herbie Hancock, Cyndi Lauper and many more.

A master of feel, innovation and groove, Sly Dunbar’s influence reaches far beyond reggae. His legacy lives on in the music he created and the generations he inspired.

Thank you for all the amazing rhythms, Sly. Rest in Peace đŸ–€đŸ„
