Hey!
Chris here, I live on the picturesque north shore of Lake Superior home to some of the most beautiful rocky shorelines in the world and endless and remote inland lakes and the boreal forest. I love being outdoors hiking or riding our quads and skidoo, camping at Neys Provincial Park, or just sitting sipping coffee lakeside.
Most of my videos are of freight trains and include the nature I am surrounded with. Recently, I have been making outdoors video's and they can be found on my channel. My train videos, for the most part, feature the entire train along with radio chatter. New content is published every few weeks, so feel free to subscribe to this channel!
Some of my gear includes
Canon EOS 60D with a few lenses (pix)
Canon Vixia HFR800 (video camera)
DJI Mini 2 (aerial vid/pix)
DJI Mini Pro 3 (aerial vid/pix)
GO Pro Hero 10 (video camera)
Samsung S20 (video/pictures)
Cheers!

From our family to yours, wishing you all the best!

I was in Chicago for the Blue Jays/Cubs series and then hit the tracks for five days around Chicago. Day one was at West Chicago on the CN & UP featuring Metra. We later moved up to the CPKC line to catch some Metra action. Day two was spent out around Rochelle, IL on the BNSF & UP. The third day we moved to Gary, Indiana to spend to do a "dawn to dusk" netting around 70 trains. The numbers were low with CN & CPKC trains down due to the lock out and strike in Canada and CSXT had a lull (block or issues to the east?) but we did got catching serval CN moves in and out of Kirk Yard, one CPKC, and plenty of NS and CSXT. IHB, CSS, and Amtrak trains also make their way past the cameras. For day four we decided to check out the IC (also a lack of traffic to/from Canada) but got several moves including along the NS line crossing the CN at Tolono, IL where we caught the second last NS Triple Crown roadrailers meeting. Day five was spent starting at Blue Island, moving to Dolton Junction, Pine Junction again, and then over to the CN at Chicago Heights to wrap things up before heading home.
Standby (a few weeks) as I slowly move through the files and watch for some uploads. The summer sure flew past now its time to enjoy September and the fall season before we know what is to come... Stay tuned!
Cheers!

Its been a year now since Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern merged to form CPKC Railway linking Canada, the United States of America, and Mexico as one network. Train traffic has increased since with plenty of intermodal and new trucker owned containers along with solid "port stacks" trains east and west to and from the Port of Vancouver passing the Lake Superior region.
The first of a few "all seasons" video's coming up from Heron Bay to Thunder Bay along CPKC's Lake Superior route in Northwestern Ontario. Hopefully the first will be out shortly starting in Heron Bay and ending at Coldwell around 45 minutes long packed with different angles, foreign power, snow, rain, sun, and of course the stunning aerial views with Lake Superior and the surrounding area providing the background!
Cheers!

I have a February 2024 vid coming up from CPKC's Heron Bay Subdivision with plenty of aerial coverage from Heron Bay/Biigtigong Nishnaabeg to Steel River/Jackfish and all points in between coming up. Mostly hotshot intermodal traffic but there is a rail train with a pair of SD40-2's, a heavy grain, some manifest, and automotive traffic. I follow one of CPKC's SD70ACU's from the Steel River to Coldwell getting plenty of shots! A couple meets recorded with one at Heron Bay and one at Marathon. Still no shortage of foreign power but a big shortage of snow and cold thanks to El Nino 2024! Just under a hour long featuring all train traffic at various locations along the north shore of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada.
Cheers!

Working on an hour long train video as we head into an El Nino winter and jump into 2024. Trains captured over a few weeks passing through Marathon from December 18th, 2023 to January 2, 2024! With only two meets and over 15 trains most trains are doing half decent speeds through Marathon including an almost track speed 106 and 421! Day & Night, sunshine and snowy to cloudy and rainy. MP 61 to 64 CPKC Heron Bay Subdivision around Marathon, Ontario, Canada.

December 16, 2023 "Winter Mode"
With 2023 coming to a close I would like to wish all the best through the rest of the year and into 2024!
My last "train" video of 2023 will be out later today or by tomorrow featuring plenty of aerial videography in the Marathon area from the Hemlo Gold Mines to Neys Provincial Park! Plenty of train meets, intermodal fast freights, and a pair of CPKC's daily manifest trains that often pass through in the dark during the short days of the year! CPKC's "Lake Superior Route" begins at Heron Bay (which can be seen from the air in this and many videos I produced) and continues to the port city of Thunder Bay, 200 miles to the west. On December 13th conditions were just perfect with "wall to wall" blue sky thanks to a high pressure system behind a low that dumped some fresh snow in the area. This year has been bizarre with mild temperatures and hardly and snow. You will see that in this video! On the 13th I went for a spin following 118 from Marathon to Cache Lake, 113 from Umbata road to Neys stopping to see 9106 at Marathon along the way! After Neys I went to Heron Bay to catch 101 and catch up on the mornings news and social media after being on the go for a few hours!
With Hannah gone on her trip to Antarctica and no plans for the weekend timing was just perfect for a drive and to watch trains. I had to do some Christmas shopping in the city and to top it off I was not only able follow CPKC's Holiday Train the Thunder Bay Parade of Lights was happening the following day. Starting off in Marathon I caught a few freights before intercepting the Holiday Train at Heron Bay. During the chase I caught two freight trains at Rossport and Selim. Here are a few links to first weekend in December, what a way to start the festive season!

Between running around in the city shopping I caught a few trains. Missed quite a few too!

On December 14th the weather in Marathon took another turn for the best. The fresh snow and cold morning (-15c) flipped over night reaching double digits and a strong South wind by the afternoon. I took my snow blade off and went for a rare December quad ride on the lake loop and timed it out to catch a train pass.

I hope you enjoy this one about a hour and a half long featuring plenty of radio chatter in the audio. A few trains are going slow or may see long but there is lots to look at from the aerial shots and radio chatter to hear in this one! For the next few months my videos wont be as often but I will still be out trapesing through the bush!
Cheers and all the best in 2024!

August has been good so far for rail action and exploring. The dog days of summer are upon us with the leaves starting to show their colours in Superior North.
