Hey guys I am still here. Crazy week. I have been cleaning up and organizing all my stuff from the past 15 years in Korea!
I have boxes and boxes of stuff, including production equipment, thousands little props from music videos I've filmed and what not. Space is a luxury in Korea and I've already thrown away like 10 big garbage bags to minimize my setup.
Why I am doing this now? Because now that I am back again for long-term, I am completely upgrading my work room, throwing away most of the stuff (except computer, speakers etc). I've been using the same setup pretty much since the 2013-2014 period, when I started producing original artists. Back then I've bought a 2.4m long table, a 40'inch screen, and other things that don't serve me very well now. I actually only got a new computer last year - it was the same computer from Dec/2012 up to May/2024 that everything Areia came out from.
I've used GPT to get a rough projection for my new setup and it looks kinda like this. It's a 2m long adjustable height table, and 3 * 32' inch monitor setup (yeah I need that much!). I've already ordered everything, including a nice new carpet. I'm aiming for an all white-ish setup but we will see as it's hard to get everything of high quality / affordable in white. Once I have everything set in the front side, I will start experimenting with the camera position and start designing the background (the opposite side behind me where the camera is going to be looking at). So, I can finally start filming all the stuff I want for my Youtube channels! Obviously this setup will help tons with motivation and productivity for the remixes too.
Monitors, monitor arms and desk all arrived but carpet will take a week plus. Anyways, I have to first clean and organise everything else before I start building the new setup. But will post the setup as I'm going on :)

STAYC GIRLS IT'S GOING DOWN!
I'm very happy people appreciate this remix and recognise the high level of work that's in there 😭
I was worried all that work is going to be buried under underperformance, because STAYC are not as big, but in these first days, it's actually doing better than any other Areia Remix Evolution.

Here are some analytics for nerds:
Of course these numbers are nothing in front of the easy 10k+ views on release day that videos were doing back in the golden years (2014-2019) but I will take it! Back then, this channel had the advantage of being a major K-pop related channel that started early (2009). After 2020 though the combination of algorithm optimisation, free time at home, some huge players in K-pop entering the social media marketing space, and most importantly the pure digital generation getting old enough to become content creators, the attention was spread very thin between infinite amounts of content. Statistics show that most K-pop content creators from the past decade actually have been losing in subscribers massively or barely holding. I'm happy to say that while the rate of expansion has of course diminished a lot since 2020, this channel is still expanding.

And then... AI arrived 😓

[ BACK IN KOREA! ]
Good morning everybody~ I'm finally back at my home in Korea after a long while! It also happens to be cherry blossom season, so here's a photo from my first quick walk outside.

I can't believe I moved into this apartment in late 2019 but have only stayed here for less than a year in total since. You see, from 2010 up to 2020 (which was essentially all of my 30s), I spent all my time in Korea, being a student of the K-pop industry, learning about every single aspect of production and management, either by working under others or through my own attempts at original productions.

However, over the past five years, I chose to spend time with my aging family in Greece after being away from home for 20 years, secure long-term financial stability regardless of what I pursue in Korea, and, at the same time, create an alternative source of income to help fund my dream of starting my own company here in the coming years.

During their 20s and 30s, people often have almost unlimited energy but usually lack the experience to do things effectively. A lot of mistakes must be made for that experience to be gained. In their 50s and 60s, people may lack energy, but their knowledge and experience allow them to do great things usually by utilizing the fresh energy of younger people. It's the midpoint, the 40s, that offers the best balance of both worlds: enough experience and enough energy to do wonders. Realizing this simple fact was a key turning point for me, both mentally and physically. I sat down and "had a chat with myself," identifying my targets and creating a master plan, breaking down my goals and achieving them one by one.

One especially important thing I had been neglecting was the fact that in order to have the energy to fuel my big dreams, I needed to take care of myself first, mentally and physically. First, I regained my mind: I quit toxic relationships, accepted the inevitabilities beyond my control, and adjusted my risk tolerance to match my age. Then, I regained my body: from quitting smoking and added sugar, to 1-hour walks every single day, bringing my body fat down from health-risk obesity to now proudly fitting into my younger self's clothes again, and even looking better than before. Just like that, all the have-to-do-them chores became happy-to-do-them missions.

Now that all these conditions have finally matured, I can get back to my original plan: staying in Korea for about 9–10 months per year, and going back to Greece for 2–3 months. I find this to be a great balance that lets me take advantage of the best that both places have to offer, and maintain both productivity and creativity without burning out.

So, here's the tea: in the next few months, I’ll be launching three new YouTube channels, each catering to a different niche. I also have a schedule full of meetings, from reconnecting with my K-pop production circle mentors and friends, to exploring new and exciting collaboration opportunities.

Stay tuned. Big things are coming.
I'm officially back.

I know a lot of you guys have been waiting for this: the first pure Trance remix in the Areia Remix Evolution era!
It's finally here with YEJI's AIR! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdP0x...

Except from the increased time spent and higher quality control of the Evolution remixes, how is this remix significant?
For the first time ever in my remixes, instead of modern software synths that roughly achieve the "original Trance sound", I've used the exact synths that were responsible for the sound of ALL of your favorite trance music from the late 90s and on: Access Virus, Roland JP-8080 and Nord Lead. Combined with a Trance melody that is derived from the original vocal melody, I believe this is the final boss of all K-pop Trance remixes. I will let you be the judge.

Don't forget that like every other Evolution remix, there are extended and club versions available for supporters on my Patreon!

aespa released an official English Version of Whiplash. So... why not make a quick release based on the original remix? 🙂 Also comes with a changed kick/bass on the drop.
