The Alex Isidro Show

Hi, I’m Alex! I'm a dad, engineer, and coach. I help all ambitious professionals increase their income online and build financial security through proven systems, frameworks, and strategies (without burnout, confusion, or quitting their job).

I grew up in a low income household in South America, and came to the US at the young age of 16. I learned English, put myself through college (held FOUR jobs at one point!), and graduated from Virginia Tech as a mechanical engineer in 2012.

As an engineer, I’ve moved up the career ladder, supporting multi-billion dollar programs through technical, project and risk management.

Throughout my professional, financial, and business journeys, I broke six figures by 25, paid off over $215,000 of debt with my wife in 2.5 years, and built a profitable online business while working full-time and raising a family.

If you're interested in ways to increase your income, and build profitable online income streams, subscribe!

Here's how I recently lost TENS OF THOUSANDS in my retirement. Don't make this mistake: When I set up my TSP (government retirement plan) back in 2015, I made a huge mistake... without even realizing it.

I put all my contributions into the G Fund, which is basically a government bond fund.

Safe? Yes.

Too safe for someone in their 20s?

Absolutely.

At the time, I thought I was doing the responsible thing; investing in my retirement...

But I had no clue that the G Fund was designed for people close to retirement—people trying to preserve their money, not grow it.

Meanwhile, there were other options available, like the L Funds (target-date funds) that adjust automatically for your age and retirement horizon, giving you a much better balance of growth and safety over time.

This is exactly where I should have put my money.

But I didn’t know.

I didn’t even know to ask what my money was invested in.

I thought “saving” was enough.

I thought "any" option was OK.

Fast forward almost 10 years later...

I realized I had missed out on almost a decade of compound growth.

Years that could have doubled or tripled my money.

Years that could have meant a huge difference when I eventually retire.

And you know what?

It hurts to think about it.

It’s a heavy feeling, to realize you were doing the best you could, but it still wasn’t enough because you didn’t have the right knowledge.

And if I'm honest... a part of me still doesn’t even want to calculate exactly how much I lost LOL...

Probably better for my sanity.

But here’s the thing:

This isn’t just my story.

It’s so many of ours.

Especially if you’re the first in your family to make it.

Especially if you were taught to save, but never taught how to grow.

Lesson learned: Saving is not enough.

You have to know where you’re putting your money, and why.

Otherwise, you might be unknowingly playing it so safe that you lose the very opportunity you worked so hard for.

If you take anything from my story, let it be this:

Before you sign up for your retirement account, or before you "set it and forget it," spend 30 minutes to understand your investment options.

Learn the difference between bond funds, stock funds, and target-date funds.

Ask questions, even if you feel embarrassed.

Now, you can use AI to answer all of your questions. Do it.

No one will care more about your future than you.

Because when you know where your money is going, you don’t just save, you build wealth.

And that's how you change the story for yourself, your family, and the generations after you.

Keep learning, keep moving, keep investing.

Your future self will thank you.

To your success,

Alex

Should you save your emergency fund or invest first?

You’re not lazy. You’re just managing too much with no real system.

Being busy all day but still feeling behind isn’t a time issue; it’s a clarity issue.

When everything feels urgent, nothing gets finished.

Slow down. Prioritize one thing.

Focus creates freedom.

Hello everyone! I need some help :) Are you an ambitious professional, aspiring solopreneur, but stuck choosing a business idea, dealing with shiny object syndrome, and tired of overthinking every decision?

I’m working on a research study interviewing ambitious, mid-career professionals and aspiring solopreneurs, who are dealing with indecision, overthinking, and perfectionism, and it's holding them back from building the focused, profitable business they know they're capable of building.

If you’re juggling a full-time job, a business idea (or five!), and feel mentally exhausted from trying to figure out the “right” niche or path forward, I’d love to hear from you.

I’m looking to interview 5 professionals, aspiring solopreneurs who are:

• Smart, driven, but stuck in their own heads
• Constantly pivoting or second-guessing their ideas
• Battling shiny object syndrome or analysis paralysis
• Feeling like time is slipping away while others move forward

This is just a conversation to understand your challenges and what’s holding you back.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, book a time to chat! I’d be honored to learn from your journey.

Book a free call here! Look forward to speaking with you www.alexisidro.com/BusinessClarity

Ever feel like you're "behind," even though you're earning a “good” salary?
The truth is, you’re not.

You’re just building something no one around you ever had.

If you’re the first in your family to build wealth, provide for others, and break cycles…
Be patient with yourself.

Learning how to earn, manage, and trust money while balancing your sanity and rewiring survival habits is hard.

But not impossible.

Take it one step at a time. Keep going.

You’re doing better than you think.

Drop a 🧠 if this hit home.

Most people don’t lack discipline, they lack direction.

It’s like driving without a destination.

You’ll get moving, sure.

But you'll end up nowhere.

Who knows, you may even end up going in the wrong direction for days, months, years.

Same with life.

You’re doing “everything right,” but it still feels wrong…

Because without a clear target, even your wins feel vague.

I used to keep it all in my head; ideas, goals, scattered plans.

But mental clutter doesn't lead to focused results.

It just leads to more doubt, and more nights wondering,

“Am I wasting time?”

"Am I going in the right direction?"

So here’s what helped me develop a vision and set goals for myself:

• Write down the real outcome you want. (what's your IDEAL day like? By hour)
• Reverse-engineer the path with 3 clear next steps.
• Protect your focus. Stop tweaking. Start moving.

When you can see the target, your mind calms down.

When you start making progress, your energy sharpens, momentum finally shows, and your confidence will grow.

You’re not behind. You’re just one clear decision away from your next breakthrough.

Keep moving forward,

Alex

Always trying to do more, and more could quietly be ruining your potential; leaving you stuck, with little to no progress, overwhelmed, frustrated,

Hear me out:

I recently went to a beautiful playground with my daughter, and we were in this big area with a ton of sponge balls, the size of tennis balls.

As we entered the room, I noticed a bunch of those balls on the ground, and while my daughter played, I picked up a couple of them and tried to juggle them.

It always amazes me how some people can juggle not one, or two, but three, four, five+ balls!

It's crazy to me the amount of focus and years of dedication it takes to develop this skill.

Anyway, I started juggling and practicing, but things got rough after three balls.

It was impossible. ha!

My focus was too diverged into too many objects and everything would collapse.

The same thing happens in our lives.

From my personal experience, I notice most people who focus on too many things at once, end up with little to no progress, and in worse cases, nowhere.

Working full time, family, running three businesses, 2 side hustles, reading 5 books, listening to 3 podcasts, and your brain is just like WTF!!!

The brain is overwhelmed.

Their attention is everywhere...and nowhere at the same time.

This can leave you feeling stuck, burned out, overwhelmed, and with little to no progress.

Sound familiar?

And I get it. Many times we're tempted to fix overwhelm by adding more systems, apps, or hacks, and trying to be more "productive."

But what I've learned is real clarity comes from subtraction, not addition.

Here’s what changed things for me:

1) Cut distractions, low-impact goals, and tasks driven by comparison. Learn to prioritize what matters most to you NOW.

2) Put all your energy into ONE goal until you make real progress. Set goals to determine what this is (more views, a certain salary number, a certain business revenue?, or a certain numbers of exercise, or family time?).

Identify the ONE goal that matters most right now.

Give yourself permission to drop the rest.

It will be difficult in the beginning, but in the long run, it will pay off.

Keep moving forward,

Alex

Ever feel like you’re working hard, earning well, and still under pressure?

It’s not because you’re bad with money.

It’s because your system can’t hold the life you’ve built.

Think of your finances like a house. You wouldn’t add a second story before checking the foundation.

But that’s what many professionals earning good money do; they earn more, spend more, and hope it’ll “settle” someday.

It doesn’t.

A raise without a reset is just lifestyle inflation with better branding.

I've been there.

Constantly wondering “Am I doing enough?”

If that's you, that’s your signal to pause, not push.

You don’t need more hustle.

You need a map.

Here’s what helped me and countless others:

• Define your “enough” – income, savings, time, peace.
• Give every dollar a job – automate based on your priorities.
• Simplify decisions – stop tinkering and start trusting your system.

Because peace doesn’t come from spreadsheets.

It comes from alignment.

I believe in you.

Keep going.

When I was getting out of debt, one of the smartest money moves I made wasn’t about interest rates. It was buying peace.

Think of your finances like a fire drill. You don’t need to solve everything, you just need to breathe and know where the exits are.

For us, that’s what $1,500 in savings does.

It doesn’t make you rich, but when you're in debt (specially hundreds of thousands), it made a big difference.

It was about keeping a flat tire, an unexpected bill, or medical expense from becoming a full-blown crisis, and getting back into MORE debt.

We wanted to eliminate having to rely on credits cards so we could finally get the debt over with!

That little cushion helped us sleep better at night.

And anything beyond that, all went to debt.

Attack the debt with everything you’ve got.

This one-two punch changed everything for me:

1) Save $1,500 to stay calm under pressure
2) Throw the rest at debt to break free faster
3) Use the debt snowball method for emotional support and build momentum FAST.

Don’t aim to be perfect. Aim for action, progress, and clarity.

That’s when real progress starts.

Keep going.
