I just opened my birthday gift. God, I'm sobbing like a fool. I... don't know what to say. It's all incredible...so fucking incredible...I can't repay you, so I will just put a piece of writing on here because I don't know how to say thank you to the extent I wish to:

The glacial wind smothered my revealed skin that was cursed with the deathly pallor of a cadaver. Trembles coursed through my shaking, gooseflesh-coated body. My teeth collided together a myriad of times, something I believed was not possible, merely written into works of fiction for dramatic effect. But it was real, and even though I tried with all of the will left in my pathetic, powerless, pity-inducing body. The hemorrage that flowed, —a vermillion the shade of wine and decaying cherries— plinked in crimson rivulets onto the muddy ground around me, every drop intermingling with the brown. Gashes covered me, leaking, leaving behind a trail for the wolves that would soon devour my body. I prayed to the lachrymose white sheet of sky above me for salvation, a place to care for my wounds and find even a single morsel of food. I looked in front of me. For a second, my heart stopped. I didn’t breathe. I didn’t dare to.

A mansion, on the verge of collapsing, nearly reduced to modicum crumbs of brick. But it still stood, basking in the resplendent afterglow of what it once was. I neared closer, my steps turning into blundering lunges due to the rapid loss of cardinal from my body. I collapsed onto the dilapidated structure for support. The walls were dusty and crumbling, a horrible sensation upon my chalk-shaded skin. The skin on my hands had remained innocent, not guilty and traumatised like the rest of my body. I let out a guttural cry as my grip faltered and my knees buckled, causing me to collapse into the dirt underfoot. Mud seeped into my wounds like an ointment that did nothing but cause agony.

My head yanked itself back, my muscles acting against my will, forcing me to look at the pinnacle of the roof. A lone raven rested at the top, its beady eyes staring into mine. A haunting weep slipped from its crepuscular beak, ringing through the silent air like a promise. A vow that I shan’t live another day. Tears streamed down my face and rough words tore from my throat, begging for this not to be the end. But I heard the scuttle of starved wolves filled with bloodlust.

This was the end. I would never feel the sensation of cruor tracing macabre patterns on my skin again. Never vexation or despair. But never the ecstasy of something as simple as seeing a rainbow emerge from in the glaucous sky. Never the enjoyment of diving into the zaffre water of the ocean on a fiery day. Just…vacuity. I would exist merely in a void filled with nihility. No one would know I had died. No one knew of my existence. Maybe this was right. And as the snapping jaws drew closer, I knew of my fate and didn’t try to fight it.

Death.
