Welcome to the official YouTube channel for the groundbreaking 2003 documentary "Rock That Uke", an examination of the world of alternative ukulele musicians and their philosophical take on the four-stringed underdog of the musical world. At the time it was released, "Rock That Uke" was the first documentary to capture the modern ukulele revival, which began in the early 90s after years of dormant interest. Back then, many mainland ukulele performers came from the punk tradition or were otherwise outside the musical mainstream. "Rock That Uke" sat down with these artists to discuss why they chose the instrument. Their answers revealed a fascinating zeitgeist of irony, laughter, angst, and impotent rage. The documentary is directed by William Preston Robertson and Sean Anderson. It features bookend voice narration by actress Holly Hunter.
