The name "The Coffee Mess" comes from my time in the Coast Guard. We would refer to the "coffee station" or "coffee mess" as the designated area where we kept the coffee maker, filters, creamer, coffee grounds, and coffee mess funds container; money from donations we used for replenishment supplies.
