Carwash Calamity was inspired by the charm and weird tone shifts of games like Earthbound and Undertale. It was made for the Bigmode Game Jam 2026 🎮 ‪@BIGMODE‬ ‪@videogamedunkey‬

You wash cars, but some grime hides enemies like living coins and angry receipts. I created the sound design including Pokémon style battle cries for the creatures, which was such a fun challenge.

This was also my first time working with this team. Remote jams can make finding collaborators difficult, but sometimes the best move is to build or join a new team anyway. This project is a great example of that risk turning into something really special!

The first-ever game jam I participated in was 7 years ago today! 🥹

I had just started university in a new city where I didn’t know anybody, and I didn’t know anything about game development despite my passion for playing games. I took a chance on doing something new without putting any obstacles in front of myself. Sometimes we think we aren’t ready yet or don’t know enough to get started, but all it takes is a leap of faith.

Now I’m a Global Game Jam Mentor and even had an article written about my experience!

Happy New Year 💛

2026 marks my 5th anniversary working on The Baby in Yellow. Watching the game evolve and grow to 300 million downloads has been a surreal journey.

Fun fact: I wrote the Epilogue music for Crown Childcare in under 24 hours, and somehow it became the most loved soundtrack in the update.

Fast doesn’t mean bad, and time spent doesn’t always equal impact. Spending hours or months on something can both resonate with people in unexpected ways.
