District energy is one of the reasons Josh Culling bought his new near-net-zero home in Blatchford, the largest planned carbon-neutral community in North America. It's hard to believe but as Josh sits on a park bench with the sounds of geese in the background he's right in the core of the City where the Blatchford green community is being developed on former airport lands with room for 30,000 people to live a very sustainable lifestyle. Blatchford has a geoexchange (geothermal) district heating system, a green building code and some of the most efficient home's money can buy. Solar is revolutionizing life at indigenous cabins in the wilds of Canada's North. It's almost too obvious - Take a tour of Raymond Cardinal's cabin and his custom-designed off-grid #solar system that replaces gas generators that cost $30/day to run - and make a lot of racket!
