Lauded by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Billboard for her alchemic blend of dark avant-pop, Rubio is the award-winning brainchild of Chilean artist, songwriter and producer Fran Straube.
On critically acclaimed albums such as 2018's Pez, 2020's Mango Negro, and 2023's Venus & Blue, Fran shapes her textural pop sound by fusing elements of EDM, trip-hop, and Andean roots music, as well as contemporary flavors of reggaeton, dembow and trap. Despite the ghostly, shivering cadence of her vocals, carried by torrential bass lines, Fran's intimate lyricism cuts clear through her digitalized melodies, like a hand being held out for a connection.
