Welcome to the show where everything goes wrong, historically. At Disastrous History we cover disasters of all kinds throughout history. From tornadoes and earthquakes to mining disasters and arson. Anthony provides the history of the area, a breakdown of how and why the disaster occurs, a timeline of the event, and the resulting aftermath. Sometimes delving into the specific failure mechanisms that occurred if the disaster (or disasters) did not come from nature. Anthony is a former fire investigator and fire fighter, holds a degree in fire, arson, and explosions, and is a weather/disaster enthusiast. His perspectives come from personal experience and lots and lots and LOTS of research.

Disastrous History
Announcement time!
YouTuber's wife here (if you don't know, I do a lot of the behind the scenes stuff. Editing, uploading, social media moderating, the website & merch, graphics..)
I just wanted to quickly let you all know that we decided to get memberships set up.
Due to the kind of educational/informative nature of the content Anthony makes, we feel deeply uncomfortable paywalling content, so we won't be doing that.
We also have really liked trying to form a community and start conversations. So while Anthony may not always be super active in replying (he works a full time 9-5, has 3 kids, is under deadline for his debut book, and produces several types of content) we like that you all have the opportunity to chat about stuff. And we really don't want to segregate any part of community as we continue to grow. None of that feels right to us personally.. so we won't be doing that either.
We really don't feel right having spaces or content that people can only access if they sign up for something because we kinda feel like we're here for you, not the other way around.
Anthony legit does this for the love of sharing information and making it more accessible and easier to understand. If you want to hear what he has to say, we want you to be able to regardless of finances.
ANYWAY, all that being said here is the run down:
there's one tier available. It's $2.99 a month and it is very basic. Early access to videos (24h ish), custom emojis, loyalty badges, and we're going to do a supporter screen at the end of videos.
VERY optional. Very basic. Just a way for you to support if you feel like it!
I made the emojis and the badges so I'm going to show them to you because I think they're fun. Top row has emojis and bottom has some loyalty badges. The two of Anthony are from a reaction video he did the other day that I haven't gotten over here yet but it's on TikTok if you want to watch it.
don't forget we have a discord discord.gg/J5xPkUSU79
thanks and have a lovely weekend!

Disastrous History
Hey all! Mr Disaster Man took a well deserved weekend off and took the kids to Indiana for a couple of days. So we will not have Disasters in History up this week and it is possible we won't have a Disaster Dispatch while we catch up and he prepares for a fire presentation he's doing next week. We really want to have regularly scheduled videos going up so we're hoping to catch up this weekend (maybe, we have two soccer games and a 13th birthday to celebrate) and have new stuff up next week!
In the meantime, I (Mrs DH) will be working on getting a Granville Rail Disaster video up. If you follow on other platforms, you may have seen this already but it'll be new to our YouTube only folks.
Thank you all for your support and patience and everything else! We appreciate all of you so much.

Disastrous History
Alright, so I am bringing whiteboard videos over to YouTube in longform. If you haven't seen any of them before, I have a whiteboards playlist with the shorts I've done. They are majorly popular on other platforms but they tend to be long so I thought I'd bring them over here too. We're still figuring out the best way to have them here.
Typically, I do one video explaining the disaster and talking more about the human element/impacts it had and then I do a follow up video using the whiteboard to use visuals to better explain the mechanics of the disaster itself. I post them within an hour of eachother so you can watch them back to back if that's your thing.
So, TLDR: I'd appreciate your opinion of the best way to post them here as long form. How would you like to see them posted here? As I did with Le Mans with the historical bits and overall explanation separate from the whiteboard, or all in one? If they're all in one, it's likely it'll still be two separate segments but just uploaded into one longer video.
