Welcome to Walton on Trent.
This is my OO-gauge model railway layout, set in a fictional city in Staffordshire, England, on the West Coast Mainline.
The track layout is based on the north end of Stafford station, but the cityscape (under construction!) is inspired by other WCML locations, especially Coventry, Birmingham and Wolverhampton. I've lived up and down the line all my life, so I never even considered modelling anything else.
Operations are based on working timetables from Sept '92 to May '95 - if it ran through Stafford in that era, I'm interested!
The Class 87 is the star of the show, working push/pull INTERCITY rakes to and from London Euston via the Trent Valley, either making the station stop or blasting through at full speed on a Royal Scot or Manchester Pullman. There'll be plenty of other passenger and freight traffic running alongside them.
Follow the story here as I try to recreate the final years of British Rail on the WCML!
Welcome... to INTERCITY.
