Making sense of life, one blockbuster at a time.

Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and professional filmmaker Alan Seawright break down your favorite movies, searching the characters, themes, and plots to find things you can use to improve your mental health, your life, your looks? and your cardiovascular fitness (nope.)

Join them and their guests as they try to improve life, laugh at each other, and keep Alan from crying over everything.

What summer movie releases are you most looking forward to? See what Alan and Jono are looking forward to below. We couldn't fit all the movies in the poll, so if you're excited about one that's not here, tell us in the comments!

Alan: Jurassic World: Rebirth has a great recipe: writer of the original film. One of my favorite directors. Basically ignoring the characters and many of the events of the previous films. It's the film I'm looking forward to the most (Jurassic Park made me want to make movies, for crying out loud!) But also, Elio. It's so good fam.

Jono here! Superman was my first fandom as a child, and I'm beyond excited to see the character portrayed as a kind, selfless, helpful hero on the big screen! He has had a major influence on the type of person I try to be. I'm also very hyped to take my kids to see Elio. Pixar is always a win!

Cinema Therapy Turns 5 + A Shiny New Intro! 🥳

It’s hard to believe, but Cinema Therapy turns 5 years old today. Our little baby is off to YouTube Kindergarten! We began by talking about radical acceptance and our beloved Frodo. Since then, the channel has gone places we never dreamed of: conventions and meetups, dream guests, and launching a movie studio with our viewers just to name a few.

And we’ve had such an amazing time making this show, talking about movies, and sharing feelings with you all, that we wanted to give you a little peek behind the scenes of our new, original score, composed and conducted by Caleb Blood, a name that we’re confident will be VERY famous in another few years. Seriously, his music is unbelievable!

Jonathan wasn’t able to join us for the recording session, but he was very involved in the composition phase, and he responded (almost) as emotionally as Alan did to the music once it was recorded by the wonderful musicians we got to work with. We hope you enjoy seeing (and hearing) this music as much as we enjoyed the process of making it. Here’s to five more years of Movie Feelings! (Close runner up for the title of our show. Not really. We’re much cleverer than that.)

Good news! We're going to start doing more TV shows (in moderation). Of these four, which would you most like us to cover? (It'll be a while before any videos on this show would come out.)

P.S. We've got more episodes on The Good Place coming your way over the next few months!
