"Whoever neglects to teach his child that which benefits him and leaves him abandoned without guidance, has indeed wronged him with the worst kind of wrongdoing.
Most children’s corruption comes from their parents—through their neglect of them, and their failure to teach them the obligations and practices of religion.
They thus lose their children when they are young, so the children neither benefit themselves nor benefit their parents when they grow older."

A man was once in discussion with al-Hasan al-Basrī رحمه الله.
He asked:
“O Abū Sa’īd! I have a daughter whom I love dearly. A man of worldly means has proposed marriage to her. Who do you think is best for her to marry?”
Al-Hasan رحمه الله replied:
Marry her to a man who fears Allāh. For when he loves her, he will honour her, and if he dislikes her, he will not wrong her.
