Continued from last post.

After postponing the Sunset Sarsaparilla ad at the end of February, I immediately started working on the new project. It’s still about Fallout but not an ad for some product. It’s something new. Its idea has been in my mind for a very long time and for now I would like to keep it to myself, but I think you won’t be disappointed when you see it,

Up until today, April 30th, I have made 561 objects, more than 23 million vertices and faces for the main scene.

The project is a 2 minute long continues shot, so the scope is much bigger than any of the animations I’ve made. Also, the concept itself has a great degree of originality, most of the references of the assets couldn’t be found in the game, so I had to make them from scratch. Therefor the progress has been significantly slower. I estimated that I’ve finished 2/5 for more than 2 months of non-stop working. But I’ve been very satisfied and happy with the results so far.

Lastly, please enjoy some screenshots of the works I have been doing so far.

Take care and be prepared for the future!

Just want to do an update on what I've been doing.

First of all, I am working on a new project so don't worry, I didn't disappear. As for the question: What's been taking me so long. Let me explain.

After finished the Pip-Boy ad, I started working on my next project which is an ad for the Sunset Sarsaparilla from FNV. The concept is a Pixar style short animation in which the Sunset Sarsaparilla bottle is a legendary outlaw gunslinger fighting bottle bounty hunters, with something like ”Sunset Sarsaparilla, the most wanted drink in the west” as the slogan.

I went as far as finished modeling and texturing two of the main characters, when I realized this project might be too ambitious for my skill. I had to constantly stop work just to spend a whole afternoon learning new skills, and it started to stress me out. I found myself losing interest in the project and keep doubting myself, thinking I’ll never be able to finish it.

So finally, at the end of February, I decided to not continue working on this project. I didn’t abandon it, just temporarily shelved it. One day, when I’m more confident and have learned more about 3d animation, I will finish it.

That being said, I started working on a new project almost immediately. I’ll talk about it more in my next post.
