I'm a completely self-taught sewist and an amateur at everything.
I love historically inspired fashion and making clothing that fits my body and life rather than trying to mold myself into the latest fashion. Some of my projects are self-drafted or pattern-hacked, but I occasionally follow the patterns of other designers. Along the way, I share my process and show new skills I'm learning.
Sometimes you'll also see cats, gardening, kitchen-ing, and travel on this channel as well.

In other news, I am experimenting with a return to Tumblr! Tumblr was my first real foray into social media back in the day.
I'm trying to reclaim the joy and creativity of social media without all the brain rot.
So if you're also on Tumblr, you can find me here: www.tumblr.com/odessadenby

Friends! I am recuperating after being completely knocked flat by the flu for almost two weeks.
I'm trying to get back to projects I was in the midst of when the virus claimed me and hope to have a new video out in early February.
However, the lingering effect of my illness is a rather hoarse voice. Hopefully I'll be fully restored shortly, but if my voice is still weak, would you be okay with some subtitles instead of VO? Or would you prefer I wait to release the video until I can manage VO again?

I'm planning ahead for fall projects and I'd like to do something blouse-like to go with all my skirts. I got the Marie Shirt and Dress pattern from By Hand London during a sale some months ago and I think September might be the time to finally tackle it. But... which version?
I know I definitely want the ruffly, historically-inspired cuff and collar option, but now I'm stuck between lengths. Should I do the blouse length to the hip or the dress length to the knee? I definitely need to experience making more blouses, but the longer version could still be layered like a blouse. Which would you be more interested in seeing?

So, after the poll I posted, this may seem like a strange video to upload straight after, considering most of you said renaissance faire/costuming isn't the main thing you want to see from me going forward.
However, I was already knee-deep in this project, so I didn't want all the footage to go to waste. In this video, I take two street wear clothing patterns and adapt them into some pieces for my husband to wear to this year's faire. I also try some natural dyeing for the first time!
I hope you enjoy my pattern hacking anyway. Hoping to squeeze out another video at the end of the month about making a skirt using a free pattern, but with a few fun tweaks!

Hello my dearest viewers-- I need your help!
I've noticed that some of my recent videos have been doing really well with non-subscribers. In fact 90% of the views on my Meadow Skirt project diary were from folks new to the channel. That's lovely! It's great new people discovered my channel, but of course, I want to make sure that the videos I'm making are what my subscribers would like to see.
I've been doing more wardrobe building projects lately because I've needed some more daywear pieces in my wardrobe and I've been challenging myself to use more patterns and learn more techniques. But I was wondering if you've been enjoying this adventure into sewing more modern pieces that fit my aesthetic and body type or if you're anticipating some of my other forms of content making a return.
I'm planning some projects for the fall and would like your opinion on what sort of videos you most enjoy. And feel free to leave comments with more details as well.
What sort of video do you most look forward to from me?

I'm sure some of you remember my frustration with YouTube copyright claiming my video about the PA Renaissance Faire last year because the cast performed the song "Wild Mountain Thyme--" a 17th-century folk song, which apparently has a claim on it.
Well, in honor of faire season starting up again, I decided to share this and one other music performancae from the PA Faire without monetization on my Patreon for free and paid members. Become a free member of my page to watch it: www.patreon.com/posts/remembering-of-105101205
Happy faire season!
