I guess I should start with a quick bio. I'm 61, so there's too much bio. I'll be merciful and skip it. Basically, after hearing "I'll get to that eventually," I just decided to repair, update, and fix whatever else needs to be done on my own. And, people, there's a lot to be done. It's a slow process. I discovered that power tools are expensive. I discovered the importance of a speed square and a level. I discovered that no matter how much I've researched and practiced, I'm horrible at measuring. Yes, I've heard of KERF... I discovered that I need to start taking 'before' and 'after' pictures. I've discovered I suck at this whole YouTube thing. I'm old, give me a break. But, the most important thing I discovered is how much I can learn from all the carpentry teachers here on YouTube and how much I HAVE learned. So, thanks! Maybe I'll post some videos of the craziness and screw-ups involved in my building projects... and then again, maybe not 😉
First carpentry work with absolutely no experience whatsoever. Unless you count hanging pictures. First and last pictures are finished or almost finished areas. After painting over walls, I added ceiling tiles, corner molding, crown molding, beadboard and chair rail. Did I mention there are no right angles? Warped walls? A few, uhm, holes and drops in the ceiling? Then, because my knees were bruised from working off the cement garage floor, I built a work table. I bought all the materials and power tools except the nail gun. At 61 years old, I'm pretty proud.
