In February, I released my Best of 2024 video. This video used excerpts from an early-Hollywood noir film, which I stitched together alongside my own list of 2024 favourites. The film was an eye-opening find, that seemed to act as an ode to John Hoffman’s 2003 family comedy ‘Good Boy!’

In the months following on from the success of that video, I learned that an original print of the film was in existence, somehow surviving from a short theatrical run back in 1952.

Protected as part of archival efforts across the pond in Los Angeles, the original 35mm print featured the film’s original structure, score, and of course title: ‘Good Boys Finish Last’.

I spent months tracking down the print; reaching out to studios in the hopes that someone might take a risk and lend me the reels to transfer and re-release the unseen masterpiece in its original, unedited form.

After months of no luck, Paramount Pictures replied, and agreed to send me the film reels.

I’m so excited to reveal, for the first time on digital, the original 35mm scan of ‘Good Boys Finish Last’

Pals! Just a quick update (on the quick update video from a few weeks back) 🙏🏻

If you watched my last video, you’ll know I’m trying to commit to more regular videos here - nothing too set in stone, but I don’t wanna be going months at a time without making stuff!

The plan is still to get a full un-interrupted version of my Best of 2024 noir short film up for you guys, followed by some fun new videos on older film recs. I would have liked to have these for you sooner this month, but it’s been a busy few weeks! I’ve been away in Barcelona getting tired and burnt (photographed below), and i’m about to go into a particularly busy work period BUT I am chipping away at scripts and shoots for new videos, so it’s all still chugging along!

All this to say thanks again for your patience, and I’m looking forward to getting playful with a bunch of fun new stuff on the channel in the coming months!
