Welcome to Nanuk Narratives! Our channel explores the unique relationship between Inuit communities and polar bears (nanuk), showcasing the wisdom of local knowledge and its crucial role in Northern stewardship. Through a series of short films, we highlight Inuit voices from across the Arctic, shifting the narrative from polar bears as solely symbols of climate change to symbols of a resilient Inuit culture that has thrived alongside these animals for millennia.
This initiative represents a unique collaboration among the Torngat Wildlife & Plants Co-Management Board, the Nunavik Marine Region Wildlife Board, the Nunavut Wildlife Management Board, as well as the Anguvigaq in Nunavik, and the Pangnirtung Hunters and Trappers Organization.
