A look at culture, high and low, and why those differences are meaningless.

The queer refugee community I’ve been in contact with in South Sudan are once again in dire need of support. Food, charcoal to cook it with, and medicine are scarce. Any help you can give, no matter how small, can save a life. Donation links are below

I’d like to take a moment to promote the work of Ahmed Sarsour. He’s a poet who escaped the war in Sudan only to become trapped in Gaza, caught in the middle of genocide. His work is angry and vital. He’s appeared on streams with Noah Samsen and others to talk about the horrors he faces.

You can subscribe to his channel here: ‪@ahmed_hsarsour‬

The best video essays are the most personal ones, and ‪@MainelyMandy‬ did fantastic work here unpacking the intersection between neurodivergence and polyamory. I read a line for it - happy to be a part of this project.

The situation in South Sudan continues to deteriorate. These two GoFundMes support groups of LGBTQ refugees there in desperate need of food and medicine. If you can help, please consider donating.

Update on this GoFundMe campaign: one of Z’s group was just attacked in the night and left with a terrible head wound. Anything donated now will go directly to medical bills.

I’m once again sharing these GoFundMe campaigns for two groups of LGBTQ refugees struggling to survive in South Sudan. They need food, they need charcoal to cook it with, they need outstanding medical aid to make it through the day.

Consider donating but more importantly, consider sharing this link with any group that could help. My influence is finite but yours, the plural you, isn’t.

Hello, all:

Effective immediately I will retire from creating online content. If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll have known that this has been coming for a long time. For me, creating content has taken a massive strain on my mental health and after my last video, I feel like I have nothing more to say.

In truth I have been feeling more fulfilled than I have in years because of things happening in my life that have nothing to do with the internet - things which I will not ruin by sharing them with the internet.

The Patreon at KKallgren will remain active, but it will now serve as an archive for all of my past work. All tiers but one will be eliminated, and that remaining tier will receive access to old videos which I’ll be reposting over the coming weeks. For those who want, they’ll be there. If that’s not what you want to support, then I humbly thank you for all that you have over the years.

Consider this a winding down. I’m putting my work behind me, but that still means I’m standing in front of it.

I will still maintain the YouTube channel and you may see me post links to GoFundMe campaigns that deserve support or YouTube channels doing work worth seeing, but don’t expect me to make more of my own content. It takes far too long for me to make even one video I can stand behind and I cannot keep the pace that other more prolific YouTubers keep. Not without pain. Not without the strain of being.

Go, and do work in your own community. Educate, aid, and protect the most vulnerable. You know how to change the world, and you don’t need me to tell you how.

Goodbye, my most agonizing pain and my greatest joy.

Death to Fascism,

- Kyle Thomas Kallgren

Boosting this:

South Sudan is merely one of many places in the world marked by strife and famine causing its residents to live in constant fear of not knowing the source of their next meal or their next medical treatment. That fear is greatly exacerbated when one is shunned for their identity by society at large.

For some time now I’ve been in communication with these two groups of LGBTQ refugees in South Sudan on ways to help them achieve stable lives in an unstable environment. Their GoFundMe campaigns have helped enormously with their ability to make it through a day. Everything donated has gone to food, coal to cook it with, housing, and life saving medicines. Anything you donate will help them achieve their dream of a stable life.
