🌱 Life has been pretty darn cool since the start of the year, and I owe that to the systems I’ve put in place to accomplish the goals I’ve set for myself.
I’m always a bit doubtful about sharing these things on social media because it feels like I’m sharing a “highlight reel” of what’s going on, but the truth is that I’ve been crushing it overall.
Off course I have my down times, times where I go over my calories to have a late snack of popcorns or vegan ice cream when I’m trying to improve my body composition. Yes business can be stressful with having to hire, fire and manage employees as we are growing. Yes injuries occur when training for athletic sports (basketball).
But because I don’t focus on looking at each moment as a representation of how I am doing but instead I look at the overall progression then that is how I keep myself on track with my goals.
As long as the overall trend is going up (or down if you are doing fat loss) towards your goals then you are crushing it.
Too many people think that once they commit to reaching any goal wether it’s physical, athletic, financial, business, etc… that the path “should” be perfect.
It never will if you haven’t figured that out yet.
So if you have down days or down moments, who cares just don’t let those be longer than they have to be. Eat the ice cream, accept it and get back on track. Cry, let it out and get back at it.
There is nothing wrong with not being perfect but there is something wrong with letting it affect the ONLY thing that matters when it comes to reaching any goal you have, and that is to consistently show up (Notice I didn’t say perfectly show up because that’s impossible).
And to be frank if the journey was “perfect,” you wouldn’t learn anything.
The only reason you are who you are today is because of your failures and mistakes. Those have shaped you to be more driven, resilient disciplined, you’ve learnt multiple times how NOT to do something and that’s what helped you figure out how to do it better the next time around.
Think of parenting, think of starting a new job, think of starting a business, starting a new relationship, etc…
That’s all it was: you took imperfect action, you tweaked and tried better the next time.
If we are being honest, I’m still taking imperfect action and trying to figure things out.
The only reason people are ahead of you is that they took more imperfect actions than you and learned more lessons than you have and have implemented the lessons.
I’ll also throw out there that I also found a way to accelerate that learning curve by hiring someone that has done all the stupid mistakes and has learnt all the big lessons and that is where I want to be or that has helped a lot of people be where I want to be.
Wether you call it a coach, mentor, teacher, etc… I have several of those in my life for different areas because life is too short for me to make time costly mistakes that can be prevented through teaching and passing along information which is how we as the human race have progressed.
I felt like sharing that today because my heart told me so, so I hope it resonates with someone reading this ❤️
