This week, I found myself thinking about my parents. I only see them once or twice a year, and a friend recently shared something that hit me hard: the average person lives to 78 years old.
When I did the math, I realized if that’s true, I might only see my parents about 18 more times. Eighteen.
That number stopped me in my tracks. It made me realize how much time slips away quietly while we’re “busy.” It reminded me why I’m on this mission, not just to help people lose weight or get in shape, but to help them live longer and better so they can create more moments that matter.
We take life for granted until we realize we only get 78 summers, 78 birthdays, 78 anniversaries with the people we love. And if you’re around 60 right now, that means, on average, 18 more summers. 18 more birthdays. 18 more memories to make.
But here’s the truth: nothing is guaranteed, and you can put the odds in your favor. You can extend your years and more importantly, the quality of those years by doing a few core things well:
🥦 Eat better. Avoid the refined, processed, and animal-based foods that age you faster and raise your risk of disease.💪 Build muscle. Strength training isn’t just about aesthetics. It protects your bones, fights sarcopenia, and keeps you independent as you age.😴 Manage stress and sleep. Because the body can’t thrive if it’s constantly in survival mode.
Vanity goals, such as fitting into your clothes or seeing the number on the scale go down, are fine. However, the real goal is being healthy enough to experience more of life. To dance at your grandchild’s wedding. To travel without limits. To be fully present for the people you love.
You don’t have to be fit to start, but you do have to start to become fit. No one can do it for you. You owe it to yourself and to the people who love you, to take care of your body, your mindset, and your health.
You deserve more summers. More birthdays. More moments. And the best time to start? Today. ❤️
