Are we actually looking at a major conflict for 2026 or it's gonna be a nothingburger with some border shootouts and lots of anger ultimately settled by some major powers ?

It's not that surprising to anyone who following the conflict closely. While Cambodia say that they want peace they have losing too many to back down and they know that they can spin this in their favor if needed and Thailand jave been humiliated many times before this at international stage on dispute issue and recently they are losing too many leg and I mean literally to the land mines after ceasefire so they will be eager to settled the score if the chance present itself. So the whole thing is basically powder kegs waiting to exploded which it did and both side claims otherside fire first with Thailand say that Cambodia open fire on Thai engineers maintenance the road near border killed one and wounded others while Cambodia say that Thailand have launch an unprovoked air strike against Cambodia's Civilians.

Thailand should call Vietnam for help so the SMO actually lasts 3 days.

I wonder if Vietnam will intervene. If Vietnam isn't harmed by this, they won't intervene. But Thailand's actions are irrational, whether they believe it or not. They cannot afford a full-scale war against Cambodia, especially if it turns into a war of attrition, because geography favors that. I hope the leaders will come to their senses.

Thai-Cambodian war 🇹🇭 🇰🇭 I was completely out of the loop. All of a sudden I see Defense Politcs Asia posted this video. Looks like Round 2 of the Thailand-Cambodia war. There are new border clashes. This time Thailand could launch its own SMO aiming to demilitarize Cambodia. Check out his video for the latest news while I study this conflict.
