13th Ward Social Club

The 13th Ward Social Club is the creative workshop of Providence-based artist Justin Catoni.

Catoni is a self-taught musician and composer, creating a tropical blend of psych-rock, samba, jazz, afrobeat, and Holy Week processional hymns, also known as:
chooch-core / wop-wave / goombah-groove / paisan-punk

When asked about Catoni's style, music critic Matt Gagnon replied, "I wouldn't let him play the dinner triangle for my deaf son."

Catoni's work has received attention from Janko Nilovic, Danger Mouse, El Michels Affair, and Quantic. He has been featured on PBS television; BBC6, KUTX and KCRW radio; and has participated in teaching workshops for the NYC school district and a screening for the RISD Museum.

The 13th Ward Social Club has released over 50 songs, including four EPs and two LPs. A greatest hits compilation was released in 2025 by PotionsNYC.
