The Chopping Board Economist

Hi, welcome to Chopping Board Economics. I'm Peter Ormosi from the University of East Anglia.

Why CBE? Nobel Laureate British economist Ronald Coase often made references to ‘blackboard economics’: economics that only exists on the blackboard, in the abstraction of an engineers’ toolbox. This is in stark contrast to economics, an intuitive device to explain the behaviour of real businesses and people. With this Channel I take economics off the blackboard and put it on my more preferred artefact, the hypothetical chopping board, in order to give it to people whose lives could be transformed by it. Hopefully it will be a fitting testimony of intuition and inspiration, an example of how the study of economics can benefit all.

All the videos were home produced by myself. I used Moovly for creating the animations, and Camtasia to bring everything together. The videos were recorded using a Sony Xperia phone (which of course imposed some limitations).
