Why do painters paint? This was a question that concerned even the cavemen as they tried to cope with this new endeavor. By painting superb animals on the caves' walls, those art enthusiasts established their role among hunters, gatherers and warriors. 17,000 years ago, Lascaux artists delighted the audience with something to admire for free.
What happened afterwards? Well, in time, as human societies developed into more organized and authoritarian systems, Painting's role was to serve their patrons' agenda.
Then, Marcel Duchamp's 'Snow Shovel' in the art gallery happened and here we are!
