It’s important to remember that when you supplicate to Allah, you should never be hasty or think that Allah will not accept your duʿā unless you have haram wealth. There is a clear hadith in Sahih Muslim regarding the circumstances in which a person’s duʿā may be prevented from being accepted.
Marooq al-ʿIjlī, an Imam from the Salaf, said:
دعوت ربي في حاجة عشرين سنة، فلم يقضها لي، ولم أَيأس منها.
I supplicated to my Lord for a particular need for twenty years. He had not yet fulfilled it for me, yet I never despaired of it. It is narrated from Abu Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn Ali and al-Dahhak that they said regarding Allah’s statement:
﴿قَدْ أُجِيبَتْ دَعْوَتُكُمَا﴾
Your supplication has been answered. There were forty years between their supplication and its acceptance. Ibn Jurayj said: It is said that Pharaoh remained alive for forty years after this verse.
Al-Tamhīd of Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr.
Allah tested the Prophets who came before us, and He will most certainly test us as well. Your Dua is a pillar of your relationship with Allah, as mentioned in the hadith:
Dua is the weapon of the believer, the pillar of the religion, and the light of the heavens and the earth. Never become hasty with your Du’a. Keep asking Allah, remain patient, and never despair of His mercy.
Mosque committee members often feel they’re above the law. Issues like behaviour and fund abuse are common, though a lack of transparency is also prevalent. I personally had a negative experience with a mosque committee member.

Gatekeeping receipts and documentation after collecting donations for dawah is no different in principle from the way Tommy Robinson and his sidekick use every technicality they can to squeeze donations from their followers. The same arguments and excuses are being used.
I remember asking @MuslimOrthodoxy to provide documentation / receipts for his GoFundMe for his medical treatment. His response was: “You didn’t donate, so I don’t need to show you anything.” Those were his words, verbatim. After @Channel4 questioned @TommyRobinsonOnline about where the donated money had gone, imagine if Tommy simply used that same response: “You didn’t donate, so I don’t need to show you or anyone anything.”
If that standard is accepted, then Channel 4 Dispatches would have no right to ask questions either or Tommy could simply say, “I’ve shown the evidence to someone close to me,” and declare the matter closed. It sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it?
That is exactly why there needs to be full transparency when people collect public donations: documentation, receipts, and a clear paper trail. If you ask the public to trust you with their money, accountability should not depend on whether a particular individual donated. They think they are cute but we can’t see through act and charade.
