Leonardo Ferreira Guilhoto

I am a PhD student in Applied Mathematics and Computational Science at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), advised by Prof. Paris Perdikaris. Prior to UPenn, I graduated in 2020 from the University of Chicago, studying Mathematics and Computer Science (4-year joint B.S./M.S. degree). My hometown is São Paulo, Brazil, an amazing city where I've had the pleasure to live in for most of my life.

As a researcher, I focus on deep learning applications to scientific computing. More specifically, I study topics related to simulation of physical systems and numerical solutions to PDEs. A lot of my research also has Uncertainty Quantification as a focus, overlapping with Black-Box/Bayesian Optimization, as well as autonomous experimentation and active learning.
