In 2024, I’ve released an album: “Steve McConnell Related by Blood or Ideals”, with songs I’ve posted here with lyrics videos. I miss the days of vinyl LPs and their pages of lyrics and liner notes - so I’ll include some thoughts here and you can check out the videos for the lyrics. This album is an exploration of the status of relationships (in order of the tracks on the album, with God, my wife, my brother (literally and figuratively), the former occupier of the Office, my country (in 4 parts), and my fellow citizens (who have more power than we know). But the title is also a nod to the way I’ve signed all my emails to congress since 2016: “Steve McConnell - no relation by blood or ideals to Mitch.” Unlike that sentiment, I wanted this album to lean in to and examine relationships.
