Poor Man's Gourmet Kitchen

This Cooking Channel is about me, a Poor Man, making Gourmet meals, in my Kitchen. This means if I can save money by doing things myself, wheeling and dealing for better price's, shopping the sales, buying second hand equipment or excepting donations, I'll do it. Some of my recipes are cheap and some are expensive but cutting out the middle man and cooking these meals myself usually saves me 2/3rds the cost of eating out. This channel is based on a $500 a month food budget that feeds a family of 5 and this is how I do it! All Recipe Ingredients & Weekly Newsletter: PoorMansGourmetKitchen.com

Half of these are shorts, but still... that's a lot of video uploads. I mean, imagine if these were television episodes. Even half this count would be at least 16 seasons if there were 25 episodes per season. 😲 I've been slackin' too! 😂 🍻

Poor Man's Gourmet Kitchen

Such a disappointment. The "Italian Village" in Murray Utah was packed at lunch time, and on the way in, 2 elderly women walking out raved about how good their food was. Unfortunately, it was just another example of Utahns not understanding culture and what good food actually is.

I ordered a special that included Fettuccine Alfedo with Shrimp, and what they called a "Bender", which was just a Calzone. The garlic bread was complimentary.

The Calzones were on point, so I'm guessing that's the majority of what people are ordering. those and/or the pizza, because the Alfredo sauce was bland and possibly made with milk or half and half. The shrimp were from a can, and the waiter verified that when I asked him about it. The sauce for the calzone tasted like straight canned tomato sauce, and the galic bread was just toasted standard slices of sandwich bread, like great value or Sara Lee from Walmart or Smith's.

My wife ordered Ravioli but had the same opinion about their sauce. She ordered a Bender with a different filling, which she did enjoy, but agian, the Marinara tasted like canned tomato sauce.

The Italian Village had a fairly large menu with traditional dishes like Veal Scallopini, Chicken Cacciatore or Parmesan. As much as I'd like to try those recipes or give the restaurant a second chance I think I would just be wasting my money. Those are more complicated recipes and we ordered the easiest things to make and they weren't good. Ironically, it doesn't seem to be hurting their business. But if you're looking for real good Italian, I'd go elsewhere. These guys don't have a clue about how it should really be prepared and taste.

You only have until the end of the month to take advantage of the pellet pizza oven sale and the $25 discount code in the description of my video, "Using my new Pellet Pizza Oven." I roasted some home-grown cherry tomatoes my sister and law gave me and made this mushroom and tomato pizza, and a cheese pizza for my kids. 🍕 🍅 🔥
