Welcome to Syrian Voices YouTube channel, a collaboration between The Syria Campaign and SyriaUntold.
I'm Rua, curator and subtitler for the channel. Born and raised in Syria, I had the chance to witness a revolt that changed people's lives, from the mundane, everyday activities, to their most profound thoughts and values. I got to watch my people scream for their rights for the first time in decades, and marvel at the vivid, creative aspects of their new-found freedom. Which is pretty cool if you think about it.
There are so many videos of the real Syria far away from the news headlines that the world doesn't see because of the language barrier. Our mission here is to try and subtitle one a day for people to watch and share. This is by no means your Syria 101. It is rather a different take on the situation in Syria, one that involves less death and more hope and laughter.
