A viewer recently sent in this e-petition for your information, so a big thank you to them for sharing.

The petition is addressed to the Queensland Legislative Assembly and calls for a review into the recent renaming of Fraser Island to K’gari. The petitioners are requesting that the island be officially named both K’gari and Fraser Island, noting a strong local connection to the former name and its use in local area and business titles.

If you are a resident of the State of Queensland and wish to review or sign the petition, it closes on December 10, 2025.

Supporting Male Victims of Domestic Violence: Introducing Stand Again

It's incredibly moving to hear from viewers who connect with my content on a deeply personal level. Recently, I received an email from a viewer who shared his story and introduced me to Stand Again, a new Australian initiative dedicated to supporting men who have experienced family violence.

Stand Again focuses on the less recognised forms of abuse, such as psychological control, coercive abuse, and emotional manipulation. Its goal is to provide men with the language to understand their experiences as abuse and offer a clear path towards healing. This project is built on lived experience, making it an authentic and valuable resource.

I believe it's vital to amplify voices and initiatives like Stand Again that are working to shift the conversation around domestic violence in Australia, ensuring all victims receive the recognition and support they deserve.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this resource, or if you'd like to learn more, please check out Stand Again:

For all New South Wales viewers, the NSW Government has created a new draft Heritage Strategy and is looking for feedback via a survey (see the link below). According to the Vimeo video they included on the page, they state the draft strategy includes the "voices, stories, and values of our diverse communities." They state their goal of "making heritage more inclusive," and their key actions to "recognise our shared stories from all backgrounds and cultures," and to "work with Aboriginal communities on truth-telling and healing."

From what I understand, the survey hasn't been heavily promoted (perhaps the Government don't really want to know what normal residents think?).

There are three survey options down the bottom of the page: a detailed survey (15-minutes), a shorter survey (5 minutes), or a Quick Poll.

Anyway, if you're interested in this sort of stuff and don't want the Government to get away with saying "we consulted the community" (through a hidden survey that almost nobody filled out), fill out the survey today and let them know your real thoughts!

The survey closes Sunday 13 July 2025.

Perhaps there's something to the Australian Government's UK travel warning. An 11-year-old Australian girl was allegedly approached by a 32-year-old man, Ioan Pintaru (a Romanian citizen with no fixed address) in Leicester Square, placed into a headlock, and then stabbed eight times. Mr Pintaru was detained by members of the public and was found with a “steak knife". A nearby security guard, Abdullah, “heard a scream” before tackling the alleged offender to the ground. The victim, who was a tourist visiting the popular area with her mother, was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries to the face, shoulder, wrist and neck area. It is understood she will require plastic surgery for the injuries that she’s sustained.
