Perhaps there's something to the Australian Government's UK travel warning. An 11-year-old Australian girl was allegedly approached by a 32-year-old man, Ioan Pintaru (a Romanian citizen with no fixed address) in Leicester Square, placed into a headlock, and then stabbed eight times. Mr Pintaru was detained by members of the public and was found with a “steak knife". A nearby security guard, Abdullah, “heard a scream” before tackling the alleged offender to the ground. The victim, who was a tourist visiting the popular area with her mother, was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries to the face, shoulder, wrist and neck area.
