👋How’s it going, friends? I took a break from YouTube last week so I could enjoy a relaxing and restful holiday week with my family. 😊 It was a much needed break, and now I’m ready to dive into new videos for Vlogmas! We’ll start TOMORROW, MONDAY 12/1 with my 4th installment of weekly grocery hauls with meal plans, plus cost comparisons with the USDA budget recommendations. Maybe it’s just me, but YouTube has been acting really fickle lately. A few weeks ago, my feed was suddenly suggesting older videos, like 5-10 years old, instead of the newer content from creators I usually watch. As a creator, the changes in views/impressions from week to week, month to month, and certainly compared with last year and years before continues to baffle me. My last video had 6 (SIX!!!) ad slots automatically placed by the platform. My video going up today has 0 (ZERO!!!) 🤔 It’s so bizarre. It really is starting to feel like a completely different platform than the one I started out on over 7 years ago. 🤷‍♀️

Last week everybody in my household fell sick, and when everybody got better, it was my turn. 🥴 There will be no new videos this week as I play catch-up and recuperate completely (still working on getting my voice back and congestion totally gone). I spent the first 35 years of my life in OKC. The transformation of this little big town over the last few decades has been nothing short of astounding. I can remember when downtown OKC was not much more than a spaghetti warehouse. Now, it’s home to NBA champions, and in a few years, we’ll be hosting Olympic events! I remember watching the Pelicans play when we hosted them after the hurricane, and we went to several Thunder games, including many playoff games, and it is just as electric as they say! We haven’t made one since we moved to Tulsa, but I was delighted to watch my hometown from up the turnpike in this post-season. I have more pics, but here are a few from many MANY years ago, including baby Kenna in her spirit gear back in 2013!

Yesterday, this channel had a birthday! I can hardly believe it’s been 7 years since I posted my first video here, and boy howdy…has it been a wild ride! I know people say all the time, “I had no idea what I was getting myself into…” but seriously…it fits in this scenario. 😂 From filming to editing to thumbnails and titles, to analytics and the algorithm, to engaging with audience members and monetizing…I had to learn it all as I went. And I had a lot (A LOT) of people help me build the plane as we were flying it. 🛫 It wasn’t all sunshine, there were (and still are) plenty of storms and challenges. Even days when I 💯 just wanna quit. But we’re still here, and until the Good Lord calls me elsewhere, I know we have more to do! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for watching, supporting, commenting, sharing, and continuing to come back here to see what’s happening in my kitchen. Now with the new kitchen almost complete, I’m so ready to get back at it with lots of family friendly meal plans and recipes to share with you all!

I usually post videos on Thursdays, but I’m a day behind this week. My wonderful husband, RevDan, took me on a little getaway to Chicago last weekend, and we had such a great time! Look for a new video on Friday this week with lots of ideas for quick family meals that keep us out of the drive thru!
