ADELINA PATTI was the most famous and wealthy opera singer of her day. She was a mega-star before the term was even invented. Even now, 94 years after her death, it is no exaggeration to regard her as the "Queen of Song"! The operatic world pays homage to her now as it did then. She was known the world over simply as " PATTI " and was treated better than royalty wherever she went.She sang from 1851 ( when she was 8 years old! ) until 1914 when she was 72. A 63-YEAR CAREER! How many can do that ?? She died of natural causes at her home, Craig Y Nos Castle, in 1919. It is said that the war had deeply depressed her and brought pain and sadness to her final years. Her life should have been spared that kind of ending. Rest in peace ADELINA PATTI, QUEEN OF SONG! Her legacy lives in her recordings, which even today brings us her golden voice 108 years later.
