Mrs. Zippy is in heaven. I had to put her down this week. I've had a pretty good life so I can easily say it is the worst thing I have ever done in my life. Hands down. I want to claw the experience out of my soul and apologize to her over and over. I get monomaniacal about it. (It's not very healthy.)
She was so sick. Couldn't walk more than a few feet without lying down, weighted 4.8 pounds, but... But the vet couldn't find her vein right away and Zipper didn't like it. 😭 All I wanted was dignity and peace for her, and I don't feel like I gave it to her. Guilt. All I could do was look in her eyes, pet her and coo how beautiful and perfect she was. "Zipper's perfect. Zipper's beautiful." You can call me stupid, because this is pretty stupid, but I never really thought she would die. We were together for 15 years. That's a long time.
Zippy was always there, just chillin'. Whenever I'd come across her: outside, on my bed, under the covers, in the bathroom, at the woodshed, at the entryway, at the chicken coop, on the porch, wherever, I'd be so happy for it! "ZIPPY!!!" I'd say. And she ALWAYS said hello back.
That's it.
My advice? I have none.
I always liked a line from The Office that Andy Bernard said: "I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you actually left them." I like that line. The thing is, I'm always aware that I'm in those days. Frankly I still am. I think I'm just sad that Zipper isn't.
Two years ago we moved from downtown Colorado Springs to be closer to nature, more self sustaining and safer in general. The plan worked! Until a train crashed near us, dumping (and burning) a soup of volatile chemicals. We are so far, so good, but the people that are closer...
My husband has an informative YouTube channel that covers police interactions and YOUR civil rights. As the derailment is so close to our home, he decided to use his reach to cover the story in a non-MSM way. I think it's an important video and it ties in with the bones of my channel: self responsibility, community and family. Government and railroad can do what they want, until the patriarchs of families and communities unite and make things right for themselves and their family.
"Homesteading With Vinyl Chloride." We're sponsored by Norfolk Southern.
Just kidding.
But we are close. Closer than you personally would want to be. Like, 17 miles due south. I don't like it. Nope. Not at all.
My husband has ordered a test kit for the compound and we're installing a reverse osmosis for our WELL WATER! What else to do? Move? Perhaps. But that takes $krilla. Plus I love it here. (Until all our fish die, the flowers won't grow and we can't eat our vegetables.)
Honestly, we're either fine (doubt it) or not.
I have always prayed that God move us to where we should be but that's not always to safety, is it? I'm oddly ok with that.
All the cool stuff we use is because of the big, bad corporations. All those big, bad chemicals make cool stuff.
And accidents happen. (Or it was on purpose? I doubt it, but who knows.)
And what about getting to the truth about what the environmental impact is to the soil and air due to the spill and the burn? Were going to the town hall meeting on Wednesday. We'll see what they say. But here's what we know...
People LIE! They lie to make themselves feel better. People lie to avoid negative consequences. People lie to get what they want. The government and corporations are made up of people! I don't expect them to tell us the truth. It would be cool, but it won't happen. Honesty would be noble. But how many noble people do you personally know? I mean really, consistently noble. I don't know if I know of any. Does that sound bad or painfully honest? Or both? Neither?
The only thing we know for sure is that: You're going to die.
Maybe a train will hit your car. Maybe a train will release chemicals and you'll get cancer. Or maybe you'll die shootin' commies (which is how I thought I would die.) Either way, guess what?
You're alive right now! How fuckin' rad is that?
So until those commies close in, until the acid rain burns your brains out, what are you doing with your time here?

Honestly, it took me an hour to get the hang of this way of thinking. My brain is very begrudging in some ways, but now I'm cruisin'! My neuro pathways are finallyconnecting. Next up is drawing. I'm horrible at it and want to change that. Are you working on developing any talents?
Two more months until the 21/22 convention! If you're on the fence, just do it! Or don't. (But you totally should.) Quit hemming and hawing and start planning your trip.
I'll be there all weekend. So will my husband. You can grill him, "Is Jennifer really the way she says she is?" "Is she as annoying as I think she is?" (NO!) "Is she the best?" (Yes.)

I've talked a lot about men being stoic in my videos before and I tend to get guff for it. Well, in this video I give one example of a stoic, two examples of weak, unstable men and one example of a man who lacks courage and boundaries. Check it out here 👇 https://youtu.be/2J481BFV2ao

🚨 Answers are on the next image.🚨
I enjoyed my daughter's puzzles so much that I got us (you and I) an adult book.
I failed the first one. It stumped me for an hour. I finally gave in and read the clues provided on the next image.
The second one I nailed and was proud of it!
How did you do? (You're all a bunch of smarty pants, I'm sure you did great.)
