UMRAAN SYED IS A RAPPER, PRODUCER, MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST AND SINGER FROM THE CHICAGOLAND AREA.
His album, Bismillah, was written and recorded during the end of 2017 and first half of 2018 and was released in late Fall 2018. All tracks are written, produced and performed by himself with additional help from select musicians where noted.
Bismillah was released in November 2018 with the lead single being (Whispers). The music on this album can be succinctly described as Progressive Hip-Hop, drawing influence from genres ranging from Jazz, R&B, old and new school Hip-Hop, Indie Rock, Classic Rock, Experimental, etc. that culminates into an eclectic sound which is ever changing and evolving while still maintaining a consistent vibe throughout the project. the songs have a sense of familiarity about them but also challenge the listener to decipher the meaning behind the nuances of production and lyrical content.
