In 2022, the Ashmead family are celebrating 41 harvests from our estate vineyard in the township of Nuriootpa. From very humble beginnings, Neil and Lorraine Ashmead took a massive leap of faith to relocate their young family to the Barossa, and to rescue the derelict old vineyard on their property, which is now the envy of the world. This vineyard has plantings dating back to 1894 and continues to produce great fruit more than 40 vintages on.

The second generation of the Ashmead family are now at the helm - brothers Cameron and Allister, with their wives Jules and Rebecca. We are a proudly family owned and operated business, and we continue to build towards a future where the third generation of the Ashmead family will take Elderton to 50+ vintages.

Find our Barossa cellar door at 3-5 Tanunda Rd, Nuriootpa, nestled in our vineyard. Visitors drive through the 1894 Command vineyard to find themselves at the homestead (built in 1918) that has been restored to its elegant best.
